A Life Worth
Embracing This production was put together with a full performing ministry in mind; drama, choir, mime, praise dancers and audiovisual. Of course, every church is not blessed to have all of these ministries active but it would be well worth it to collaborate with other churches in order to achieve this stunning drama. A Life Worth Embracing is a series of short scenes that travel through the life of Jesus and tells the gospel story. James has done a wonderful job of strategically walking us through from Bethlehem to Calvary while keeping message on point and moving. This is the template for how to bring several ministries together to tell one story. Requires 33 characters
with speaking parts and a choir, praise dancers and a mime ministry. There's also
plenty of room in the crowd for extras. Approximate running time
is 60 minutes. If you don't have a large drama troupe, many of the
actors can play double roles. No more than 5 people at a time act in one
scene. There are some accomplishments in this play that I've never seen in a church play. For instance, we go from the childhood of Jesus to the temptation in the wilderness to the healing of Jairus' daughter to the feeding of the five thousand in a matter of minutes. If you've been wanting to present an Easter drama that's big with a lot of imagery, this is the one to do. The lines are simple enough to learn quickly but this play isn't as much about fancy words as it is about showing the passion of Jesus for us. James does that with much skill in A Life Worth Embracing.
